Practical use cases

Not “make a map”. Complete a job.

Each case starts with a professional question, shows how XN Maps supports the workflow and states what you can deliver.

01

Desk study and initial scoping

The job question

Understand which signals matter before investing time in acquisition, cleaning and advanced modelling.

How you address it

Query the catalogue for your boundary, filter by category and generate an initial set of maps and KPIs for professional validation.

What you deliver

  • Multi-layer screening
  • Indicator shortlist
  • Baseline for the analysis plan
02

Multi-year analysis and delta layers

The job question

Produce consistent comparisons without manually replicating the same processing chain for every period and indicator.

How you address it

Configure years, ranges or delta pairs and run batch generations with progress tracking and incremental results.

What you deliver

  • Comparable series
  • Territorial deltas
  • KPI charts
03

Large-scale climate context

The job question

Rapidly add a consistent climate view for countries or regions to a broader assessment.

How you address it

Generate the temperature delta for selected boundaries and download the GeoTIFF for further processing in your GIS.

What you deliver

  • Georeferenced GeoTIFF
  • Min/mean/max statistics
  • Layer for further analysis
04

Visual QA and result triage

The job question

Quickly identify anomalous or uninformative outputs before including them in the deliverable.

How you address it

Use 2D/3D previews, legends, statistics and coordinated views to check the result and choose what to investigate further.

What you deliver

  • Preliminary QA
  • Selected maps
  • Source trail
05

Client delivery and communication

The job question

Move from a technical output to an accessible story without rebuilding every report by hand.

How you address it

Bring maps, legends, KPIs and text into editable reports or share a view-only link with stakeholders.

What you deliver

  • HTML/PDF/DOCX reports
  • Map packages
  • Shareable link

From brief to deliverable

A workflow that fits your work.

  1. 01

    Scope the work

Query multiple sources for the same boundary and identify the useful signals.

  2. 02

    Investigate

Configure periods, deltas and views with professional judgement.

  3. 03

    Deliver

Bring outputs into your GIS or turn them into a client report.

Verifiable context

An accelerator, not a replacement for GIS

The suite reduces repetitive steps in initial analysis and simplifies handoff. GIS expertise remains central to quality control, scale selection, interpretation, data integration and responsibility for the final deliverable.

Clear responsibilities

XN Maps accelerates the analysis. Your expertise remains essential.

XN Maps supports screening, knowledge-building and communication. It does not replace official sources, surveys, specialist checks or professional responsibility.

FAQ

Before bringing it into your process.

What you need to know before starting the analysis.

01Does it replace QGIS, ArcGIS or my existing stack?

No. It accelerates discovery, preprocessing, comparison and reporting. Desktop GIS remains the right environment for custom geoprocessing, advanced editing, modelling and final validation.

02Do all tools export raw raster data?

No. Macro Maps exports GeoTIFF; Map Generator and Satellite Comparison currently prioritise images, ZIP packages, KPIs and reports. Each tool page lists its actual outputs.

03Are the layers available everywhere?

Not always. The catalogue is dynamic, and some datasets cover specific countries or periods. Availability, units and legends must be checked for each layer.

04Can I use the results in a professional report?

Yes, as technical content to verify and contextualise. The professional remains responsible for sources, method, scale, interpretation and fitness for the relevant procedure.
